Press Statement Issued by the National Organization for the Defense of Telecommunication Services
Regarding the Targeting of Civilian Telecommunications Towers, Stations, and Facilities in Yemen
The National Organization for the Defense of Telecommunication Services is following with profound condemnation the escalating systematic airstrikes and blatant aggression that have struck dozens of civilian telecommunications facilities, towers, and stations over the past few days. This has resulted in their total or partial destruction, taking them out of service across the affected districts, and depriving civilian residents of basic telecommunications and internet services.
The continued involvement of the Saudi military coalition in this brutal escalation against telecommunications facilities does not merely target physical assets and property of a vital sector; rather, it constitutes a direct attack on the Yemeni people and deepens their suffering through the systematic destruction of service and humanitarian infrastructure. Its direct impact extends to hundreds of thousands of civilians and their families by forcibly depriving them of essential telecommunications and internet services, stripping them of their sole means of communication, emergency outreach, and medical relief. Furthermore, it prevents Yemeni expatriates abroad from communicating with their families at home, compounding the distress of civilians amidst the critical humanitarian conditions gripping the country.
The Organization emphasizes that intentionally paralyzing the capacity of the national telecommunications network through these devastating airstrikes leads to compounded, catastrophic repercussions. Service blackouts disrupt relief and humanitarian operations, hinder the vital work of hospitals, medical teams, and civil defense units, and choke everyday economic and service activities for citizens—thereby doubling the burden on society and amounting to full-fledged collective punishment.
The National Organization for the Defense of Telecommunication Services stresses that targeting civilian objects and telecommunications infrastructure constitutes an explicit war crime and a flagrant violation of all international charters, customs, and human rights laws.
Accordingly, the National Organization for the Defense of Telecommunication Services declares the following:
 * First: The National Organization for the Defense of Telecommunication Services condemns in the strongest terms the blatant aggression and systematic targeting of telecommunications towers, stations, and facilities across all governorates. It demands that the Saudi military coalition immediately halt all forms of aggression and targeting directed at civilian, vital, and service telecommunications facilities.
 * Second: The Organization holds the countries of the Saudi military coalition fully legally, criminally, and morally accountable for all physical and human losses resulting from their airstrikes.
 * Third: The Organization renews its call to the United Nations, the UN Special Envoy, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and relevant international human rights organizations to assume their legal and moral responsibilities by immediately documenting these crimes and exerting serious, prompt pressure to neutralize the telecommunications sector from military conflicts.
 * Fourth: Reaffirming the right of the Yemeni people and their institutions to prosecute the perpetrators of these crimes before international courts and bodies, and to demand just compensation for the losses incurred by the sector as well as the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure.
The Organization reiterates that telecommunications networks and stations serve as a vital lifeline and an inherent human right guaranteed internationally and humanely, and that targeting them represents a full-fledged war crime. It urgently calls for immediate intervention to put an end to all these violations, protect civilians in Yemen, and safeguard their fundamental rights.
May God grant success.
